Jio Platforms shares debuted on the NSE and BSE on October 28 at ₹1,358, a 21.36% premium to the ₹1,119 issue price. The listing follows a ₹30,213 crore IPO that was subscribed 22.19 times.
Listing Price and Premium
Shares of Jio Platforms, the digital and telecom arm of Reliance Industries, made their stock market debut on Wednesday, October 28. The stock listed at ₹1,358 apiece on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE, according to Upstox’s live coverage. That is a premium of 21.36% to the IPO issue price of ₹1,119.
The listing came two days after share allotment was finalised on October 26. The NSE and BSE had issued listing notices on October 27, and trading began at 10 am.
| Item | Detail |
| Issue price | ₹1,119 per share |
| Listing price (NSE and BSE) | ₹1,358 per share |
| Listing premium | 21.36% |
| Gain per share at listing | ₹239 |
| Gain per lot of 12 shares | ₹2,868 |
What Allotted Investors Gained at Listing
The IPO’s lot size was 12 shares. At the upper price band of ₹1,119, a retail investor needed ₹13,428 to apply for one lot. At the listing price of ₹1,358, that lot was worth ₹16,296, a gain of ₹2,868 per lot, according to Upstox.
These figures show the position at the opening price only. After listing, the share price moves with trading demand on the exchanges, so the value of an allotted holding can rise or fall during the session and in later days. The gain at listing is not a guarantee of future returns.
How the IPO Was Priced and Subscribed
Jio Platforms fixed its issue price at ₹1,119, the top of the ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 price band. The IPO was a fresh issue of 27 crore shares, worth about ₹30,213 crore, which made it the largest public offering in India. At the issue price, the company’s market capitalisation was about ₹10.3 lakh crore.
Bidding closed on October 23 with overall subscription of 22.19 times in a BSE snapshot. Qualified institutional buyers bid 70.55 times their quota, non-institutional investors 14.00 times and retail investors 2.72 times. One NSE-based tracker reported a slightly lower overall figure of 21.36 times, which differs only because of the timing and source of the data.
Where the Money Will Go
The IPO proceeds go to the company, since there was no offer for sale. Up to ₹27,500 crore of the net proceeds is meant to repay or prepay borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the material subsidiary that runs the telecom business. The remainder is for general corporate purposes.
Before the public issue, Jio Platforms raised ₹8,109.85 crore from 212 anchor investors on October 19 at ₹1,119 a share. Reliance Industries held around 66.43% of the company before the offer, with Meta and Google together holding 17.71%, according to the draft red herring prospectus.
The Market Backdrop on Listing Day
The listing took place on a weak day for Indian equities. Business Standard’s live blog said the Sensex and Nifty began the session lower, with the Sensex down about 700 points in early trade and the Nifty below 22,600 as crude oil topped $115 a barrel. A separate report noted that Jio Platforms’ listing was in focus even as the broader market fell.
That matters because a new listing trades alongside the rest of the market. A strong opening premium shows demand for the shares at the start of trading, but the stock’s path through the day also depends on overall sentiment and on how institutions and retail holders choose to sell or hold.

What Investors Should Know After Listing
Shares for allotted investors were due to be credited to demat accounts on October 27, and refunds to those who were not allotted shares were scheduled for October 27. Anyone considering buying the stock now would be buying at market price on the exchanges, not at the issue price.
Subscription numbers and listing premiums describe past demand. They do not predict where a stock will trade in future sessions, and readers should consider the company’s disclosures and their own circumstances before making any decision.
