Jyoti Structures shares jumped as much as 14% on October 26 after the company won two Power Grid Corporation orders worth ₹949.35 crore for ±800 kV HVDC transmission lines in Rajasthan, to be completed in 38 months.
The Orders in Detail
Jyoti Structures announced on Monday, October 26 that it received two Notifications of Award from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. Both relate to transmission lines in Rajasthan, and the combined value is ₹949.35 crore excluding GST.
| Package | Value (excluding GST) |
| Lot 1 (TL01) | ₹474.85 crore |
| Lot 2 (TL02) | ₹474.50 crore |
| Combined order | ₹949.35 crore |
The orders cover the ±800 kV HVDC Bipole Barmer-II project and the South Kalamb transmission lines. The work is on a total turnkey basis and includes supply, erection, testing and commissioning. The company must complete it within 38 months of the date of the award notification.
Jyoti Structures also said its promoters, promoter group and group companies have no interest in the entity that awarded the contracts, and that the orders are not related-party transactions.
How the Stock Reacted
Jyoti Structures shares rose 13.97% in intraday trade to a high of ₹9.30 on the NSE, according to Business Standard. At 11:24 am the stock was trading 11.5% higher at ₹9.07. On the BSE, the previous close was ₹8.17, and the stock opened at ₹8.41, according to a report by Udaipur Kiran. Other reports published later in the day showed smaller gains of about 9% to 10% as the session went on.
The shares had gained 5.59% over the past week, outperforming the Nifty 50, which declined 0.99% over the same period. A research analyst at Globe Capital Market said the stock had started a bounce-back rally from a previous swing support level of ₹7.94, according to Business Standard.
Why the Order Size Stands Out
Business Standard noted that the total order value is nearly 90% of the company’s market capitalisation of ₹1,069 crore at the time of writing. That ratio is why the order drew attention: for a company of this size, a single award can be large compared with the value the market places on the whole business.
An order book is the value of contracts a company has won but not yet executed. A larger order book gives a transmission engineering company more visibility on future revenue, though revenue is recognised only as work is completed. In this case the work is spread over 38 months.
What Is an HVDC Transmission Line
HVDC stands for high-voltage direct current. Unlike conventional alternating current lines, HVDC lines carry electricity as direct current at very high voltage, which is used for moving large amounts of power over long distances. The Power Grid project here is rated at ±800 kV.
Jyoti Structures was set up in 1974 and is headquartered in Mumbai. It executes power transmission projects, which means building the towers and lines that carry electricity from generation sites to the grid.
What the 38-Month Timeline Means
A 38-month completion period is a little over three years. One analysis said the order adds revenue visibility for roughly the next three years. Because the order value is stated excluding GST, the amount the company recognises as revenue will be measured on that basis, with GST handled separately as a pass-through tax.
The awarding party, Power Grid Corporation of India, is a public sector utility. Winning work from a large public sector customer can signal technical capability, though payment timelines on such contracts also matter to a company’s cash flows.
Execution Is the Key Variable
Winning an order is the first step, and delivering it on time and in full is the next. One analysis noted that timely execution and smooth collections from Power Grid will decide how much of the order turns into cash. The company’s results over the coming quarters will show how well it manages delivery against the 38-month timeline.
The notification of award is also not the same as completed revenue. The company will report progress in its quarterly results as the work moves forward.

What Investors Can Track
The details to follow are the pace of execution, any further order announcements, and the company’s quarterly revenue and order book disclosures. Share prices of small companies can move sharply on order news and can reverse just as quickly.
